About Club 4000
Club4000 was founded in 1993 by Luciano Ratto and Franco Bianco to become a reference and an aggregating point for all ‘collectors’ of peaks higher than 4000 mt in the Alps, to exchange information, documentation and experiences about them.
Currently Club4000 is a Group within the Turin Section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI, Club Alpino Italiano), with its own Regulation.
To join the club you must have climbed at least 30 of the 82 peaks listed in the official list recognized by the U.I.A.A.

Paolo Brunatto
PresidentResident in Collegno, near Turin, he holds a degree in Information Science and works as a Project Manager. He is also a certified Environmental Hiking Guide. Passionate about mountains, especially mountaineering. A member of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) in Almese and part of Club 4000 since 2011. To date, he has climbed 51 of the 82 Alpine peaks over 4000 meters.
Vittorio Calvetti
Vice President & Social MediaResident in Orbassano, near Turin, he works in the Automotive sector. He enjoys ski mountaineering and climbing but has a preference for classic mountaineering. He discovered the allure of peaks above 4000 meters in 2016 and has since climbed 60 of them, as well as two extra-European ascents on Kilimanjaro and Island Peak.
Luca Calzone
PhotographyResident in Ghemme, near Novara, he works for a large food company in the area. His two passions, photography and mountaineering, have merged into a single pursuit: mountain photography as an art of exploration and experimentation. He joined Club 4000 in September 2009 and has so far climbed 67 of the 82 Alpine 4000-meter peaks.
Alberto Cucatto
TreasurerResident in Turin, he holds a degree in Physics and works for the Environment Department of the Metropolitan City of Turin. An instructor at the CAI UGET Ski Mountaineering School, he completed all the 4000-meter peaks in 2012. Since then, he has focused mainly on ski mountaineering and climbing.
Tachi Pesando
CommunicationsResident in Turin, he works as a Project Manager in the ICT sector. He is a Regional Instructor with the Giusto Gervasutti National Mountaineering School of CAI Turin. He joined Club 4000 in 2012 and has so far climbed 45 of the 82 highest peaks in the Alps. He has also participated in extra-European expeditions to the Andes, Karakoram, and Africa.
Giovanni Pessiva
WebmasterResident in Grugliasco, he holds a degree in Computer Engineering and works as an IT consultant in the insurance sector. His passion for mountains was instilled in him by his family. He enjoys adventures in nature, always in good company. He has climbed 51 of the Alpine 4000-meter peaks.
Elena Salamon
EventsResident in Turin, she holds a degree in Literature and Philosophy and manages a small art gallery in the city. She is a sectional instructor at the CAI Chivasso. A second-degree black belt in Ju Jitsu, she is always amazed by the beauty of high altitudes. She has climbed 39 peaks over 4000 meters.
Enrica Tessore
SecretaryResident in Turin, she is a dentist specializing in orthodontics. She loves the mountains, especially when covered in fresh powder snow. She is also a ski instructor and coach, as well as a sectional instructor with SIVALPI. She has climbed 47 of the 82 Alpine 4000-meter peaks.Mountain Hut
CAPANNA QUINTINO SELLA AT MONT BLANC ROCHERS
Capanna Quintino Sella, named after the main promoterof the CAI association Quintino Sella (1827-1884), is located along the southwestern ridge of the Mont Blanc Rochers and dates back to 1885, the year after Sella's death.
The hut is on the path that from 1872 to 1890 was the only normal Italian route to Mont Blanc (from the so-called Sperone della Tournette); today it is still the most direct access.
In 2015, two years after the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the foundation of CAI the most historic of the four mountain huts named after Sella underwent restoration works.
The initiative was promoted by CAI Torino (owner of the hut), Club4000 (managing the facility) and Cantieri d’Alta Quota (media partner). The project was also funded by the Valle d'Aosta Region and by Banca Sella SpA.

agosto- Collezionando 4000
la rivista ALP dedica un numero monografico ai 4000, intitolato "I 4000 delle Alpi" che comprende un lungo scritto di Luciano Ratto ("Collezionando 4000"), nel quale, Ratto e Franco Bianco (primo convinto collezionista di 4000 in Italia), lanciano l'idea di costituire un "Club dei collezionisti di 4000" al fine di individuare quali e quanti siano tali collezionisti, e propongono un elenco di primo riferimento di 87 vette in attesa di una definizione ufficiale dei 4000 delle Alpi.
1992

Ratto e Bianco chiedono a Silvia Metzeltin, rappresentante italiana presso UIAA, di proporre a questo ente l'approvazione di un elenco ufficiale formulato da una commissione di esperti dei tre Paesi interessati, Italia, Francia, Svizzera.
1993
maggio- elenco ufficiale
a Martigny, le commissioni dei tre Paesi, dopo avere lavorato separatamente per alcuni mesi, si riuniscono e varano l'elenco ufficiale delle 82 vette di 4000 m delle Alpi.

l'UIAA comunica al CAI, nella persona di Gino Buscaini, responsabile della commissione italiana, l'approvazione dell'elenco ufficiale concordato a Martigny.

- Nasce il Club 4000
esce la Rivista del CAI che comprende un articolo di Luciano Ratto intitolato "Tutti i 4000 delle Alpi", che riporta l'intero iter seguito per la definizione ufficiale, assieme all'invito rivolto a tutti i collezionisti di 4000 di aderire al costituendo "CLUB 4000", per la prima volta così definito; segretario Franco Bianco. La soglia minima di 4000 saliti per l'ammissione è fissata a 50. Questa può essere perciò considerata la data di nascita del Club.

novembre- Progetto Capanna Sella
la reggente Daniela Formica presenta il progetto di restauro del rifugio Quintino Sella ai Rochers del Bianco, già anticipato nell'Assemblea del 2013.
2017
ottobre- Capanna Quintino Sella
si concludono i restauri del più storico dei quattro rifugi alpini che recano il nome del principale artefice del sodalizio, il biellese Quintino Sella (1827-1884), ingegnere idraulico e minerario nonché per tre volte ministro delle finanze del Regno d'Italia all'indomani dell'Unità, tra il 1862 e il 1873, ma soprattutto appassionato alpinista. Nel 1885, l'anno successivo la sua morte, a 3370 metri di quota, lungo la cresta sud ovest dei Rochers del Monte Bianco, sul percorso di quella che dal 1872 al 1890 sarà l'unica via normale italiana (dal cosiddetto Sperone della Tournette), e ancor oggi la più diretta, si erige in sua memoria un ricovero non custodito.
