With the start of 2026, the Club launches a new series of meetings dedicated to sports medicine applied to mountaineering, physiology, and injury prevention.
The first event will feature Dr. Massimo Massarini, sports medicine physician and founder of Vitalia Torino, whose solid experience ranges from sailing to high-altitude mountaineering and clinical practice. His lecture, entitled “What Can We Learn from Great Mountaineers? My Experience as a Sports Medicine Doctor with the Greats of the Mountains,” will offer an overview of physiological adaptations, training strategies, effort management at altitude, and injury prevention.
The event will take place at CAI UGET, Corso Francia 192, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 8:45 PM.
Following this, the Club will host an evening dedicated to “Nutrition in the Mountains: Fundamentals for Well-being and Performance,” led by Dr. Rossella Tonso, nutrition biologist and ski-mountaineering instructor. The talk will address the principles of sports nutrition applied to mountain activities, with particular attention to nutritional timing, strategies to maintain energy and mental clarity, and the differences between low- and high-altitude activities.
The goal is to provide practical tools to improve well-being, safety, and performance during both winter and summer outings.
This event will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 8:45 PM, again at CAI UGET.
